Hi, my name is Ronan Nauert. I am so happy to share my perspective on Medium. I am a student activist, organizer, political strategist, and commentator. I am currently a High Schooler in the Portland, Oregon Metropolitan Area. I started my political path in the 6th grade year, in 2020. I became a social media activist, promoting the Biden campaign and progressive issues. I continue my social media activism today. I first got involved on the frontlines in 7th grade, in 2022 when my State representative knocked on my door. She asked me if I wanted to join her primary election volunteer team, and I said yes. I had never known how to get involved, and throughout the primary campaign, I knocked on thousands of doors. Throughout that summer I worked as a volunteer on various campaigns in the campaigns of Jamie McLeod-Skinner, Tina Kotek, and Andrea Salinas, among others. After the 2022 midterms, in December 2022, in 8th Grade I joined the volunteering organization Grassroots Democrats HQ (GDHQ) as a fellow. At GDHQ, I helped lead phone banks, run political data systems, helped with volunteer recruitment, and more. I spent 5+ hours during the school year, and 10+ hours during the summer as a fellow at GDHQ. After 8 months at GDHQ, I vacated my position as a Fellow in July 2023. After that, at the start of 9th grade, in August 2023, I joined TurnUp as an Intern. At TurnUp, I participated in grassroots activism and volunteering, and I developed policy solutions to issues facing youth today. I completed the Internship program in October 2023. In December 2023, I joined the League of Women Voters of Oregon Youth Council and preceded to be unanimously elected as the Youth Policy Communications Chair. In my free time, I enjoy reading, watching social media, walking my dog, and getting as much vitamin D as possible. On Medium, I want to write about a wide variety of issues, mainly focusing on the political field.
